Kellas shortlisted for Outstanding Contribution to Energy Security award by OEUK

We are thrilled to be a finalist in the OEUK Awards 2023 in the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Energy Security’ category.

For decades, UK energy infrastructure – including Kellas' gas transportation and processing facilities – has been at the heart of energy security and it continues to play a critical role today with almost half of the UK’s total energy coming from gas.

We transport and process around 40% of UK domestic gas production, equivalent to providing heating to some 12 million households. Our flagship asset is CATS on Teesside which earlier this year celebrated its 30 year anniversary of safe and reliable energy transportation and processing. Our portfolio also incudes ETS, and HGS, our newest platform and pipeline which commenced operation in 2022.

We are bringing our depth of experience and expertise in natural gas infrastructure to clean energy initiatives, specifically low carbon hydrogen. H2NorthEast is a project to build a CCUS-enabled blue hydrogen facility next to CATS that will deliver 355MW of hydrogen by 2028, upscaling to more than 1GW by 2030 and contributing up to 10% of the UK’s target hydrogen capacity.

We are also exploring gigawatt-scale green hydrogen production, also in Teesside, in partnership with RWE leveraging both companies’ leading positions in energy infrastructure and renewables.

The OEUK Awards ceremony will take place on 30 November at P&J Live in Aberdeen and we’re looking forward to what’s sure to be an exciting evening celebrating the brightest and best across the UK offshore energy industry.
