Managing and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from our gas transportation and processing operations is critical to our ongoing carbon reduction journey.
Our CATS terminal has one of the lowest carbon intensities of all gas processing facilities in the UK. We are committed to further reducing emissions at site through energy efficiency initiatives, including heat integration and flaring minimisation projects. Since 2019, 100% of imported electricity to CATS has been from certified renewable sources, resulting in zero Scope 2 emissions from our operations.
At the ultra-low emissions Tolmount platform, part of our HGS system, 100% of required electricity is generated by its own power generation system.
Zero environmental spills recorded (since 1993)
All waste is recycled, reused or recovered
Imported electricity comes only from renewable sources
From across our operations
We are passionate about protecting the natural environment and fostering biodiversity in the communities where we operate, with ongoing initiatives that promote ecological balance and conservation. Working with environmental organisations at our CATS facility, we have established a thriving colony of Small Blue butterflies, recorded multiple new species of moth and nurtured diversity of flora and fauna around the terminal, and we host hives of honeybees.
