Supporting Teesside University Women in Engineering programme for a second year

We were proud to support the Women in Engineering residential programme at Teesside University, 1-3 July, for the second year running – this is an inspiring initiative designed to encourage Year 12 students to explore the breadth and diversity of engineering as a future career.

This year, Josie Armin, a Graduate Piping Engineer with our CATS operating partner, Wood, gave a talk to participants about her career to date, sharing insights into life as an engineer and the opportunities available within the energy sector, and she also supported the students during a bridge engineering design challenge.

Reflecting on the event, Josie said: "I was honoured to support the Women in Engineering event at Teesside University and share my career journey with such an inspiring group of young women. It was a fantastic opportunity to talk about my career path to date, support the teams as they designed their bridges, and help judge the final entries. Choosing a winner was incredibly difficult given the creativity, innovation and quality of all the designs on display.

"A huge thank you to everyone involved in sponsoring and organising this event. Initiatives like these play a vital role in inspiring and shaping the next generation of engineers, and I have no doubt that the talented young women I met will go on to achieve amazing things in the future."

Thanks once again to the brilliant team at the University for hosting another successful and impactful event.
