We were proud to support the recent Women in Engineering residential programme at Teesside University - an inspiring initiative aimed at encouraging students in year 12 to explore the breadth and diversity of engineering as a future career path.
Rebecca Mann, Process Engineer at our CATS terminal, took part in the event, sharing her personal career journey with the students. Her insights into the challenges and rewards of working in the engineering sector offered a valuable real-world perspective, helping students better understand the opportunities that lie ahead.
Rebecca said: "It was a pleasure to engage with the next generation of aspiring female engineers and hear what's driving them. Although my passion is chemical engineering and I will always push for more women in that sector, it was really good to hear that there are lots more women considering careers in other disciplines too, such as mechanical and civil. At 17, choosing a career path can be a daunting prospect, however the summer school helped give the students clarity and confidence as they start making those big decisions about their futures in engineering."
We extend our sincere thanks to Samantha Gooneratne and the dedicated team at Teesside University for hosting such a meaningful and impactful event. Their commitment is making a real difference in shaping the future of engineering.
